Woven Pixels – Digital jacquard weaving technology
The presentation was focused on introducing digital jacquard weaving. This technology is a unique modern textile technology that allows students to better apply themselves in the field of fine arts as well as in the field of the textile industry. TC2 digital jacquard looms, together with digital design software Arahne, were purchased for the Department of Textiles at the University of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava in 2014. The technology combines digital skills with manual weaving on digital looms. The presentation presented the design process in the digital program Arahne, the creation of the design as well as weave structures and the results of student projects. At the same time, presentation display the results of lecturers own textile realizations, which I devoted myself to during my doctoral studies. Her- effort was to include a wide range of ways of processing digital jacquard fabric – upholstery fabrics, tapestries, fabrics with a 3D surface, three – dimen – sional textile objects.
