The workshop aimed to combine the design process with technology, e.g. weaving technique, to develop a multifunctional product using waste fabrics (re-use of the material). The research was related to different structures on the way in Maribor, the host city of Design Week 2023. Students went around the town and found exciting places that interested them. They exposed the primary visual material and related words on the poster. Remake rests of textiles is always an exciting way to express creativity. Choosing textiles in different colours and patterns was the starting point for preparing warp and weft strips for weaving technique. The developed woven fabrics were made with the possibility to install one or two sticks to give the product multifunctional use, for example, for wall decoration or shopping bags. The woven product can be used for different applications, such as clothing ( poncho, skirt, scarf) or interior items (doormat, light shadow, chair cover, etc.). Students prepared different colourful variants of their products and enjoyed the whole design and production process. All approaches to final product realisation support sustainability and extend designers’ creativity.
