The workshop – Puppets for animation was called Circus World, with the subtitle – upcycling with humor. The theme chosen in this way allowed the participants of the workshop to express human characters in all their rich diversity. The puppets were supposed to express different spectrum of emotions, such as love, hate, sadness, anger, joy, happiness, pride… They were not supposed to be a realistic image of reality but an artistic abstraction of the chosen characters. Students worked with leftover materials, found objects or natural objects. The workshop also included cooperation with a group of students working in a team focused on animation.
The idea is based on the documentation of the course of the event – the Winter School Design Week. The main goal of the workshop is to create documentary photos and a short film clip of the all workshops that took place as part of the Winter School program and to confront the students – participants of the workshop with the preparation of an animation. In the first part, they created documentary photos and recorded short interviews with the teachers – the leaders of the workshops – to capture their thoughts. In the second part, they prepared a Circus animation in collaboration with the participants of the “Puppets for Animation” workshop…
